National Cadet Crop NCC

ABOUT NATIONAL CADET CORPS'

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) originated from the 'University Corps,' which was established under the Defense Act of 1917 to compensate for the Army's deficit. The 'University Corps' was succeeded by the 'University Officer Training Corps (UTC)' in 1920, when the Indian Territorial Act was established. Our leaders correctly saw that the UTC should be renamed as a national institution to prepare young boys and girls to be better citizens and future leaders of our wonderful country in all sectors of life, including the defence forces, in 1942. In 1946, at the instruction of our first prime minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, a committee led by pandit HN Kunzru was formed. The NCC was established on July 16, 1948.

The original tri-color flag was established in 1954. The flag's three colours represent the Corps' three services, with red representing the Army. The Navy wears a deep blue uniform, whereas the Air Force wears a light blue uniform. The gold NCC crest is in the centre of the flag, surrounded by a lotus wreath. Give the flag a vibrant appearance, with each lotus representing one NCC Directorate (DTE).
