College Infrastructure Overview
The college is situated in the heart of Ichalkaranji City and boasts excellent infrastructure with easy accessibility from various parts of the town. Known as the “Manchester of Maharashtra,” Ichalkaranji has become a preferred destination for students from surrounding villages to pursue education in Arts and Commerce.
Kanya College, Ichalkaranji, has a rich history that showcases its growth and expansion. Established in 1984–85 by Shri Swami Vivekananda Shikshan Sanstha, the independent girls’ college began with just 50 students. Initially, it operated from Sanstha’s ASC College premises and later shifted to the Girls’ High School in Ichalkaranji until 1993. Since then, provisions for continuous expansion have been made.
In 1994–95, on the auspicious occasion of Dussehra, the foundation bricks for a new college building were laid, thanks to generous donations from various local donors. A modern structure with 24 classrooms was constructed, and the college now features a spacious, centrally air-conditioned, two-storied building equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.
CLASSROOMS & ICT FACILITIES
The ARPK campus spans 1.17 acres and offers a serene and beautiful atmosphere, ideally suited for academic pursuits. The total built-up area of the institute is 1,008 square meters, thoughtfully designed to meet modern educational standards.
The college features a separate Principal’s cabin, a modern office block, and well-equipped, well-ventilated classrooms in good condition. Wide and well-planned corridors enhance the overall campus experience.
Spread across two floors are 16 spacious and well-ventilated classrooms that foster a productive learning environment. The unique architectural design of the classrooms allows students to enjoy scenic views during leisure time.
Four classrooms, a seminar hall, and a dedicated NAAC-cum-seminar hall are equipped with overhead LCD projectors and Wi-Fi connectivity to support effective teaching and learning processes.
Various committee boards are displayed along the corridors for awareness and transparency. Additionally, the college displays helpline numbers prominently, covering local hospitals, police stations, the university grievance redressal cell, and both university and local emergency contacts.
Gymkhana & Sport Facilities
The college boasts a dedicated playground within its campus, covering an area of 2,045 square meters. It features well-maintained courts for basketball, volleyball, Kho-Kho, and Kabaddi, supporting a wide range of outdoor sports activities.
In addition to outdoor facilities, the college also provides amenities for indoor games, including table tennis, carrom, and chess, encouraging holistic physical and recreational development among students.
Laboratories
The college houses five fully-equipped laboratories dedicated to Home Science, Psychology, and Computer/Internet browsing. These labs are designed to offer students practical exposure and hands-on experience, enhancing their understanding of theoretical concepts through direct application.
Computer Lab
The college features a modern computer lab equipped with 38 branded personal computers, all networked to support effective teaching and learning. A separate browsing center is also available in the library for students’ academic needs.
All systems are connected via a dedicated broadband internet line with a speed of 50 Mbps, available free of charge to students and staff. This setup ensures smooth access to online resources and enhances the delivery of University-prescribed courses through focused faculty guidance.
Auditorium cum Seminar Hall
The college features a well-equipped auditorium cum seminar hall, along with an open stage, providing a dynamic platform for students to showcase their talents. These spaces are regularly used for rehearsals, performances, and various academic and cultural events, encouraging holistic student development.
Canteen / Cafeteria
A clean and well-maintained canteen is available on campus, offering a variety of hygienic vegetarian and non-vegetarian food options. It serves as a convenient and comfortable spot for students and staff to refresh and relax during the day.
